project management

At the nucleus of my professional experiences are my ability to deliver high quality work through my strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills built on the foundation of over ten years of project and event management experience and a diploma in arts and entertainment management. These experiences gave me the practical tools to take on project coordination in an adaptable and reliable manner.

At both FNFN and as a Lab Administrator at UBCO’s environmental humanities lab, the FEELed Lab, I led content creation and dissemination while implementing our collaboratively made communications strategies. In these roles, I provided copywriting and detail-oriented editing across various content for community and academic audiences. I led the development of various digital and print publications and social media content.

Across personal projects and client work, I have led and supported the development and implementation of over fifty successfully funded projects in academic, non-profit, and Indigenous governance spaces. Alongside my ability to write successful grant applications, I have supported full-cycle grant administration at FNFN and Troyanda Society to ensure full compliance in project management, budgeting, and reporting requirements.

I recently completed a project with Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) to develop an introductory Indigenous Studies course that covers the breadth of the discipline while ensuring the course addresses regional needs on Beaver, Cree, and Métis Lands in Treaty 8 territory. Creating an anti-oppressive curriculum that meaningfully engages with Indigenous peoples, cultures, histories, and knowledges demands that the hard parts are balanced and interspersed with the cheerful, the humourous, the optimistic as this is how our communities continue to thrive.

The centrality of this value is especially prevalent in my work with Fort Nelson First Nation’s (FNFN) Lands Department where I am supporting a community-oriented curriculum development and knowledge translation project. This ongoing project requires me to review, evaluate, and synthesize compiled materials to develop and refine course outlines, teacher aids, and community resources.

Across my roles at the FEELed Lab, FNFN, Troyanda, and more, I have led and developed records and information management strategies and tools to maintain robust file organization systems. I work with teams to create folder infrastructure, file naming conventions, and appropriate metadata for high-level find-ability and storage that aligns with internal and external file saving policies.

I have been leading and supporting event management for twelve years across my roles at FNFN, the FEELed Lab, and Troyanda Society. I have been planning events for non-profit, cultural, environmental, and research organizations that have ranged in scope from youth culture camps, symposiums, publication launches, and more.

In my work with Fort Nelson First Nation’s Lands Department, I coordinate the planning, execution, and completion of community-led research and restoration projects. I collaborated with project managers, external contractors, funders and support staff to ensure timely completion of deliverables and provide guidance where needed. I design, implement, and oversee project tracking tools to maintain project timelines.
